Walking a thin line,
Between the shadow and the light,
Count time with footsteps,
Sound out the path,
Strike out the distance,
Pause upon an edge.

Trying not to falter,
Hold the ground,
Fight against the demons,
Past mistakes,
Historical lessons,
Remembering where once before I was wrong.

Learn through a silence,
Find strength to wander wisely on.

Hold hard against the battle,
Break the seeking darkness,
Dispel all lingering nightmares.

Cupping my hands together,
I forge my own light,
Flaring bright,
Through gaps between my fingers,
From deep within my hands,
I create my own pure light.
